Where is a man when you need one!

I'm pretty self sufficient when it comes to DIY but assembling a bike has absolutely stumped me. As usual the instructions it came with were useless! It shows you all the maintenance side of things but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT PUTTING THE BLOODY THING UP! Even though it's taken all night I've about done it apart from the front brake which really isn't doing as it's told! So only got my sons bike to fix the puncture on then we can try to do without using buses and taxis and asda home delivery for my shopping!

We spent the day at our friends house today the boys spent half of it taking apart a kids 12 volt car with big plans to customise it with lowered suspension and the lot....too much top gear! She mentioned she had a sofa to take to the tip....until i noticed it was in really good condition and comfy so it's been saved from a life in the landfill need to sort out some better blankets as throws but it's the perfect size!

Change of direction

Nearly a year since my last post! A lot has changed in that time and so has the focus. Hubby is back in the army so i'm home alone most of the time now. My son is no longer at school but being home educated due to his aspergers syndrome diagnosis. I have recently had to give up my full time job and go self employed so difficult times ahead! Lots of cutting costs lots of work and a total change of lifestyle! In the process of decluttering the home and working out finances. The big task of starting the garden to make it provide for us is next and my is that going to be a huge task!

OMG A FOLLOWER!!!!

I'm still working all this blog thing out so was most suprised to see i have a follower!!!! Thank you so much i really am gonna have to get this blog sorted and actually keep posting now!

Although i haven't been posting i have been very busy, unfortunately i have gone back to work so am pretty whacked out...but i have gutted my wardrobe!! I have literally put everything on ebay and am only now having vintage inspired clothes bags shoes. I was fundraising at a 1940s re enactment show and the weekend and loved it, i was expecting to feel a bit silly but felt right at home dressed like that so thought i would just go the whole hog and sell everything and replace it with cute vintage items. I managed to pick up a bag two dresses and and a cardigan while there which i will get pics of and post for you to see. the dresses are quite 50s inspired and the bag is just so cute! I've got a few goodies on their way from ebay so will snap them as they arrive...myvintage..esque journey seems to be travelling quicker than i had planned!

refashion project to do

A project to do, i'm thinking of shortening it to just below knee length and adding a think black waistband to it maybe using the cummerband pattern that came as part of the vintage shirt pattern i have lined up to do. I also need to make some netted underskirts to go under my 1950s style skirts so think a trip to the fabric shop is in order. I will start outfit posts tomorrow now i have worked out how to post pictures!!!

My first sewing project!!

A terrible picture taken on my very badly done duct tape dress form, it is actually i really nice shimmery copper fabric that i picked up from a car boot sale for £1.50 not sure how much fabric there was but i think i've got enough to make another dress from it. Until my sewing skills improve i think i will be better off sticking to looser fitting items as i think they will be a bit more forgiving and not look quite so home made. I'm also not sure i picked the best fabric to work with first time as it is quite slippery and silky maybe the cotton fabric i have for the shirt will be a bit easier..who knows!!

My next project

Another vintage pattern from ebay dated 1953 i'm so wary of damaging the pattern though i'm tracing it onto tracing paper to use as the original is starting to disintergrate. I'm going to make the short sleeved version which will be nice for summer and quite versatile i think it will go well with skirts or trousers. The fabric is a red cotton but it looks a bit dull on the photo even though it's actually a nice bright red...and for some reason all my pictures and coming up sideways...i have a lot to learn on this blogging thing!

New vintage patterns

My new vintage patterns from ebay..i never realised how much they sell for some people were bidding some silly prices for them but i managed to get these at a reasonable price, so i'm now on the lookout for some fabric to start making them with!
